Rules

Due to our Liquor Licence, we are required keep all noise levels to a minimum at all times. So there is to be NO yelling and screaming whilst playing bowls. Clapping is encouraged if a good bowl has been delivered. For safety reasons there is to be NO Driving (fast bowling) at any time. Drinks may be carried across the green when playing bowls but there is NO drinking on the green at any time. Children under the age of 12yrs are not allowed on the green for their own safety. Bare feet, socks, thongs or bowls shoes (no tread) are allowed on the green when playing a game.

How to Play

The object of the game is to get as many of your bowls closer to  the small white ball (the Jack) than your opponent. The game can be played as singles (one against one) pairs, triples, or fours (four against four). The game is started by a toss of the coin to see who delivers the jack and bowls the first bowl. The first player (lead) in each team will deliver their bowls first alternately and then the second in each team will follow and so on, until all the bowls have been delivered. This completes the first end. The score is agreed between the two teams, and the winning lead will place the mat and rolls the Jack to their team's preferred length. You are playing!!! A game can be played up to a number of ends (eg: 21 ends) or a time limit.

Tips

The bias side of the bowl will have a smaller symbol/icon. Always have the Bias facing the centre line of your rink for both fore-hand and back-hand shots. Use your boundary pegs as aiming points to start. Then adjust your angle wider or narrower depending on where your first bowl finishes in relation to the Jack. (Fast greens will require you to take a larger angle and use less strength).  It’s not ten pin bowling! It will take around four ends to get used to the pace of the green. Keep in mind that the more bowls on the green the better chance of scoring.
